繞口令(tongue twister 或 word cramp)是一種傳統的游戲，各民族語言中都有。在我國過去曾有人提議讓剛會說話的幼兒，連續說幾十遍“一個烙鐵，烙鐵一個”來鍛煉孩子的口齒，因為稍不留意就會說成“一個老爹，老爹一個”。英國的父母也常讓他們的小孩快速反復地說“red lorry, yellow lorry, green lorry.”來鍛煉他們的口齒，真可謂有異曲同工之妙。在英語學習中，反復朗讀能使人口齒伶俐，有助于矯正發音不清，分辨一些類似的元音和輔音。例如：
1. The hunter and his huge horse hid behind the house.
2. She sells seashells on the seashore, and the shells she sells are seashells, I am sure. If she sells shells at the seashore, the shells she sells are seashells, for sure.
